The Traditional Game, Oreano will feature during the last week of the Te Runga 2006.

It is down to 8 teams now playing in a knockout competition for top honours.

And Knockout is the word. A lapse in concentration and a 4kg solid ball coming at good speed is enough to send the best to a hospital bed... See all the action on the Oreano page.

Organising Committee Evaluate Over a Bowl

Members of the Te Runga Organising Committee meet over a Bowl of Kava to dtermine the direction of the event for the final week.

Athletics is now finished along with Table Tennis so it is down to the team sports to complete the National Championships by Saturday.

Boxing Demonstration Successful.

The Kiribati Boxing Federation commenced their demonstration event for these Games last night Friday the 1st September.

This was the first time that Boxing has staged a national event and will hjopefully lead to the proper establishment and recognition of the Kiribati Boxing Federation.

The Te Runga 2006 has reached the halfway stage with some sports beng completed today.

Despite the threat of rain throughout the week, most sports are on or ahead of schedule.....

The Games Will Go Online.

The 2006 Te Runga, the second in the series will go online for th every first time in any national sporting event.

Thanks to Sporting Pulse and the Oceania National Olympic Committees, we have websites for each of the sports in competition and through the use of Sportzware, we will be able to bring you the results as they happen.

The internet is sparsely available in Kiribati but this will change in time. For all those i-Kiribati and supporters around the world, stay tuned for results and maybe catch a glimpse of relatives and friends in our Photo Galleries..

So they nearly all came ! 23 teams were represented at the Opening Ceremony this evening. With the evening sun in their eyes, the guests had a few sweaty and blinding problems, but seemed to enjoy the experience and reacted with enjoyment and applause to the creative presentations produced by some teams......
