Haátafu Beach Resort is situated
on the North Western peninsula of Tongatapu Island, the southern most
and main island of the Tongan group.
Nukúalofa, the capital is 21kms by road from resort.
The resort is owned and operated by an Aussie, Steve Burling and his
Tongan wife Sesika and their extended family. Steve has been living and
surfing in Tonga for over 20 years. His experience and knowledge of the
local breaks and conditions is second to none and ensures you will
always be surfing the best waves on offer.
The resort's lagoon is 'National Marine Reserve' and hosts an
astounding array of marine life - a snorkellers paradise!
Accommodation consists of basic beachside
bungalows (falé) which overlook the magnificent lagoon and surf
beyond. All falés have double or single beds & a table.
A separate amenities block has cold fresh
water showers (solar bags provided) and toilets. The total number of
guests at any one time is limited to 20, which ensures a relaxed
uncrowded atmosphere prevails.
The food is one of the highlights of the
resort with fresh seafood daily guaranteed by the resort's fishing
boats. The boats troll daily for tuna, mahi mahi and marlin. Cuisine is
healthy and hearty and guaranteed to fuel the body.
Steve was a chef in Australia and loves
dabbling in the kitchen.
His fresh tuna mornay is awesome. Plenty of fresh produce is always
