FIRST PRIMARY SCHOOL HOCKEY COMPETITION

PRIMARY SCHOOL VISITS A GREAT HIT !

Hiko since starting his role as the Tongan Hockey Development Officer has begun to introduce hockey to primary school. Rather than covering too much ground he has concentrated initially on 6 schools so that they could have regular sessions weekly and get a chance to continue practising their hockey skillsmore

ROLE MODELS PROVIDE HEALTHY MESSAGES TO ATHLETES

At World League RD 1 in Suva Fiji there were 3 Fijian role models helped to spread healthy lifestyle messages to their own team mates and that of the participants from Papua New Guinea,Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatumore

KINDERGARTEN SESSIONS GOING WELL

Hiko Fungavaka has been running a hockey participation session with Kindergarten children every few weeks. The children are mainly from 3 -5 years of age and are accompanied by their teachers and volunteer parent helpers.more

TONGA MEN MAKE HISTORY

Tonga Men made history by participating at the World League Hockey 5s event in Suva as this was the first time that they had played at an FIH ranking event. However, they created even greater excitement by scoring the opening goal of the competition and shocked tournament favourites, Fiji who Tonga was playing against.more

WORLD LEAGUE RD 1 TONGA WOMEN PARTICIPATE IN FIJI

The FIH World League Round 1 was held in Suva Fiji from the 28 Jun to 2 Jul 2016.
This was the first FIH tournament that Tonga had competed in so the excitement was high when the team arrived in Suva.more

HIKO FUNGAVAKA - TONGA DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Hiko Fungavaka, who was previously the Sports Development Officer for TASANOC, took on a full time role with Oceania Hockey Federation as the Hockey Development Officer in late June. This role became possible through joint funding by FIH Target Assistance Programme (TAP) and Australian Government's Pacific Sport Partnership Programme (PSP)more
