Day 3, Men's Semi Final 2 - Palau vs. Guam

The second, and last men’s semi final for beach volleyball, was a matchup between Palau and Guam. Playing for Palau were Naivana, and Taro; who like the Kiribati team, are both full time athletes. Day 3 at the Micronesian Games, and the first Men’s semi final was between A1 (Kiribati) and A4 (Yap). Last Game, Day 2 Women's Playoff - Yap vs. RMI (2)

Last game of day 2, and the first beach volleyball playoff was a game between RMI (2) and Yap (Women’s). It read to be a good game, and the teams did not disappoint, giving the spectators a three set marvel. The first was won by RMI 21-14. Looking ominous for Yap, they turned it around, winning the second 21-16. In the third it was close, but it was RMI who won the game. Taking the last set 15-11.more

Day 2, Game 9 - RMI (1) vs. Palau (Women's)

The second last game, and the first three set game of the day: was between RMI (1) and Palau (Women’s). RMI (1) got off to promising start, winning the first 21-13. In the second, Palau struck back, winning it 21-12. With the game at stake, Palau was the team to perform under pressure, taking the third set 15-11.more

Day 2, Game 7 - Palau vs. Yap (Men's)

Palau vs. Yap (Men’s). Similar to the previous game, neither of these teams managed to win a game yesterday, and no doubt were looking to secure their first. However it was Palau who was the better of the two on the day, taking the first 21-14, and the second 21-16.more

Day 2, Game 6 - Guam vs. Yap (Women's)

Game 6 was a matchup between Guam and Yap (Women’s). Neither team had won a game yesterday, and were both desperately searching for their first win. In the first set, Guam looked promising, and took it 21-12. Yap were unable to stop Guam, losing the second 21-7, giving Guam their first victory and leaving Yap on 0-3.more

Day 2, Game 5 - RMI (2) vs. RMI (1) (Women's)

This game was a matchup between the two Marshall Islands teams; RMI (2) vs. RMI (1) (Women's). With both teams knowing each other’s games, it was bound to be an interesting match. RMI (1) got off to a good start and took the first 21-12. A fight back from RMI (2) in the second tested RMI (1), taking them to deuce. Though in the end, RMI(1) won 22-20.more

Day 2, Game 4 - Yap vs. Palau (Women's)

The women’s first game of day 2 saw Yap and Palau (Women’s) pitted against each other. Consistent with their performance yesterday, Palau dominated Yap in the first and second set. Scoring the majority of the points was Yamada, helping Palau take the first set 21-13, and the second even easier (21-5).more

Day 2, Game 3 - Guam vs. RMI (2) (Women's)

Day 2, Game 3 was RMI (2) vs. Guam (Women’s). Guam went into the game desperate for a win, being 0-2 from yesterdays matches. However, RMI (2) is in some good form and though Guam put up a fight, they lost the first 21-15. It was a similar story in the second, and due to Sablan’s performance, RMI (2) were able to take the second 21-16. Winning 2-0 over Guam.more

Day 2, Game 2 - Yap vs. Kiribati (Men's)

The second game of the day was Yap vs. Kiribati (Mens'). The first set was extremely close, with Kiribati taking it 21-19. Yap were less competitive in the second set, with Mavuera scoring most of the points, Kiribati won the second much easier (21-11) and hence the game.more

Day 2, Game 1 - Guam vs. Palau (Men's)

Beach Volleyball on day 2 of the Micronesian Games has commenced, and the first match was between Guam and Palau (Men's). Looking to bounce back from yesterdays loss, Palau played excellently in the first, taking it 21-10. In the second, Guam tried to up their game, but thanks to Naivana; Palau won 21-11 for a 2-0 victory.more

Last game, Day 1 - RMI (2) vs. Palau (Women's)

The Last match of Beach Volleyball on day 1 of the Micronesian Games was one of the closest thus far. It saw RMI (2) play Palau (Women’s), and even from the first set, the scores were close with RMI (2) winning it 21-18. Though Palau fought back and took the second set 21-15. RMI (2) fought hard, however it was Palau who came out victorious, winning the last set 15-6 and taking the game.more

Day 1, Game 6 - Guam vs. RMI (1) (Women's)

Nearing the end of the day 1, Guam played against RMI (1) (Women’s). From the get-go; RMI (1) showed fervor and determination, outplaying Guam and winning the first 21-9. It was a similar story in the second set, with RMI (1) besting Guam 21-8 to take a very convincing victory.more

Day 1, Game 5 - Guam vs. Yap (Men's)

An intense game between Yap and Guam (Men’s) had spectators cheering from the sides. The first set was a close victory to Guam (21-19). However, Yap fought back, taking the second 21-16. All to play for in the third, both Guam and Yap gave their all, though it was Guam who came out victorious, winning 16-14 in the last set.more

Day 1, Game 4 - Kiribati vs. Palau (Men's)

The fourth matchup of the day was between Kiribati and Palau (Men’s). It was a well fought game, but Kiribati’s effort and hustle helped them pull away with the victory, winning 2-0 over Palau. It was close in the first, with Kiribati winning by 2 points (21-19). The final was less competitive, going 21-14 in Kiribati’s favor.more

Day 1, Game 3 saw Yap take on RMI (1) (Women’s). The first set was extremely well fought out, with the score reaching deuce. However, it was Yap who was able to secure the first, with the score being 22-20. RMI (1) put up less of a fight in the second, losing the set 21-12, making Yap the victors.more

Day 1, Game 2 - Guam vs. Palau (Women's)

The 2nd Beach Volleyball game of the day pitted Guam against Palau (Women’s). Both teams played well, but early on Palau showed promising signs, continuing to win the first set 21-16. The confidence of having a 1-0 lead may have helped Palau win the second set 21-11, and consequentially the game.more

Day 1, Game 1 - RMI (2) vs Yap (Women's)

The first game of beach volleyball has begun! At 10:00 am, Marshall Islands played against Yap. Both teams played well and got progressively more competitive throughout. However, Marshall Islands ended up winning both sets against Yap. The scores were 21-10 in the first, and 23-21 in the second.

Beach Courts put on finishing touches

The beach volleyball courts are nearly ready despite the rain. The main competition court is completed with a bit of ground work to do around the court and the training court is just about ready with the pole mounts going into the ground today.more

Beach action a first for Yap

Beach Volleyball will be a feature of the 9th Micronesian Games in Yap being played at a new purpose built facility. The competition will run over three days from 16th - 18th july 2018 and feature 6 men's and 6 women's teams.more
