In the opening game of the season, St. George hit the field in their new red and white strip which was commented very favourably by many spectatators against Sydney University. St George led for half the game but were over-run in the 3rd quarter where Sydney Uni prevailed to win. The game should be encouraging for both sides with much to take out of it. Score Sydney Uni 3.9.27 to St George 2.4.16
In game 2, one of the newest club the Bondi Shamrocks started strongly against league powerhouse Newtown and like game one led at half time. However Newtown were fired up and hit back with a ten goal 3rd quarter and consolidated to win 14.10.94 to 6.2.38. Both sides should be well pleased with their sides efforts.
In game 3, Macquarie Uni the other newest club forfeited to UNSW/Easts Stingrays for only having 13 players. (15 is the minimum to constitute a match). Instead both sides agreed to have a scratch match to give everyone a run. Hopefully Macquarie Uni can get a few more players.
In the final game, the grand final replay saw Wests and Balmain take each other on again in another football classic. With the wind blowing toward the golf course end at Mahoney, both sides used the win to their advantage in the first half but both sides actually outscored against the wind with Balmain emerging triumphant 7.4.46 to 4.8.32
