Key Venue (Main Field)
The Lyel Kempster Baseball Park, located on Speed Street.
The baseball diamond is within Traeger Park Sporting complex. It has a totally fenced in perimeter with battling cages and lighting for night competitions. The right and left field fence lines are 320 feet with a centre field fence line of 380 feet. The infield is composed of grass and red topsoil for the base lines. The field is of a National Standard. It has been rated as one of the best baseball diamonds in Australia. Abundant shading is provided by the beautiful gum trees surrounding the field with the majestic MacDonnell Ranges forming an impressive back drop.
The venue is located in a sporting complex also home to Field Hocky, Tennis, Basketball, Swimming Pools and the Australian Ruses Football facilities. The Squash Centre, Tenpin Bowling facility and Lawn Bowls Clubs are located across the divided road from Traeger Park Sporting Complex. The ‘heart’ of Alice Springs is a 15 minute walk from the Sporting Complex.
Transport
The service will be available during hours of competition, and will be available from 6am – late. Booking hours are from 8am – 6pm daily, and must be booked one day prior. There is no minimum or maximum number of participants per booking, as vehicle sizes will vary according to numbers.
Sports Medicine
Sports medicine personnel will be available the clinic is opposite the grounds located under the new grandstand at the football ground.
Refreshments
A canteen will operate at the Traeger Park diamond during the baseball competition.
Toilets
Toilet facilities will vary according to each venue. Lyel Kempster Baseball Park has toilets located in the yellow block near the front gate.
Parking
Ample car parking will be available.
Seating
Ample seating is available, spectators are welcome to bring deck-chairs for seating.
Ages
The minimum age for each group will be 35 years. All competitors must have reached this age by 31 December 2008.
Non-registered Participants
No player will be able to compete in any match unless the required Games and baseball entry fees have been paid. Apart from not being in the spirit of the Games, there are potentially serious insurance and liability for injury implications.
Cleats
Metal cleats will be used.
Bats
Competitive competition wooden bats will be used during the Masters Games competition
Re-entry
No provision is made for re-entry into the game, apart from the blood rule.
Dispute Resolution & Discipinary Procedures
Masters Games are the FRIENDLY GAMES and should be played in the spirit of good baseball. If the need arises the Baseball Management Committee will call a tribunal to deal with any dispute or for any disciplinary matter.
