Welcome to the Perth Redbacks Kayla Standish

The Perth Redbacks are excited to announce the signing of Kayla Standish for the 2018 WSBL season.

Kayla will be one of the most decorated players to have joined the Redbacks women’s program in the clubs long & proud history.

“We are super excited to welcome Kayla to the Redbacks.” said coach Charles Nix, “As has been the theme for us this recruiting period, while we wanted to add talent to the group, we also needed to make sure we are adding great people. This signing is an indication that we’re building a quality team with a great culture and Kayla is an outstanding example of all the qualities we require in our program.”

Coming off the back of a stellar 2017-18 WNBL campaign with the Perth Lynx, which saw her contribute 11.8ppg and 5.1rpg, Kayla will bring a very unique combination of size and mobility, along with the added capability to stretch the defence beyond the perimeter.

Prior to commencing her career in the WNBL, Kayla was a standout for the Gonzaga Bulldogs collegiate program, which included multiple All-West Coast Conference 1st Team honours.

Her college career was highlighted by a trip to the Elite 8 in the 2011 NCAA Tournament, while she also represented Team USA at the 2011 Pan American Games.

At the conclusion of her college career, Kayla was drafted 19th overall by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2012 WNBA Draft.

Kayla made her way to the WNBL in 2012, where she featured prominently as part of the Townsville Fire & Adelaide Lightning programs, before making her way out west for her debut season with the Perth Lynx in 2017.

The Perth Basketball Association welcome Kayla to the club and are absolutely thrilled to have her on board for the 2018 WSBL season.
