Team of the Week Round 13

GK- David Smith, Launceston City

Smith was outstanding in goals for City, maintaining a clean sheet despite Olympia pressing very hard for an equaliser. He made multiple good reflex stops and controlled his penalty area well as they held out a previously red hot Warriors attacking line up.

RB- Liam Quaile, South Hobart

The young full back was the best player on the pitch against Zebras, putting in an outstanding display. He defended superbly, tracking back and shutting down any attack that came down the right as well as providing drive forwards.

CB- Paul Stevens, Hobart Zebras

In a game controlled by both sides defences, Stevens was the other stand out player, putting in a composed performance in the heart of defence. He kept the dangerous Leszczynski well shackled and made a bunch of key interceptions to disrupt South's attacking flow.

CB- Tyler Harrison, Hobart Zebras

Making up the other half of the disciplined and effective Zebras central defence was Tyler Harrison, whose late goal line block to deny Loic Feral saved his side two points and may well have kept them in the title race.

LB- Alex Sciulli, Launceston City

Sciulli was immense at the back for his side, making a number of timely tackles, cross blocks and significantly nullifying the edge that the Warriros would have expected to hold in wide areas.

CM- Trent Pearce, Kingborough

Controlled the midfield against Clarence, pulling the strings and helping his side dominate possesion. His goal was a simple walk in which was a deserved cherry on top of a strong performance.

CM- Chris Downes Kingborough

A hat-trick for Downes whose technique in striking from range surely ranks among the top few of the competition. He curled in two free kicks but his long range effort from open play that bent an incredible distance was the pick of the bunch.

CM- Miles Barnard, Devonport

Another who bagged a hat-trick from midfield, Barnard is developing a reputation for getting himself to the right place at the right time. His keen goal scoring instincts were on display against Rangers as he kept bobbing up in the box and burying his chances.

LW- Isaac Degetto, Launceston City

Degetto was outstanding for City, operating as their main conduit for attacks in the first half. He covered a lot of ground, both tracking back and never stopping making the bursting runs forward that helped stretch the Warriors defence.

RW- Brody Denehey Devonport

Denehey was his usual busy self against Rangers and caused them no shortage of problems with his constant work rate and pressing. He capped his performance with a very nicely taken goal into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

ST- Shane Cartwright, Kingborough

Cartwright completely bullied the Clarence defence all game, they simply had no answer to him as he consistently out muscled or dribbled past them. He played a hand in setting up almost all of their six goals and was the dominant player on the pitch.
