As people were leaving the ceremony, we came across three of Pohnpei's women's tennis team.
In their first appearence in the Micro Games, Amanda Hawkins, Maggie Finnen, and Jenna Panuelo were exposed to their first opening ceremony.
At 18,16, and 15, they were clearly excited for what's to come.
When asked about how they feel about playing tomorrow, and they replied with confidence and determination to win big and bring Pohnpei a gold medal. But they still do have worries.
They expressed their biggest challenge will be Guam and Palau. Jenna explained that Palau's only female player, Ayana Rengiil, one of the top female tennis player in Micronesia, whom she is a bit hesitant to face among all the other players due to past encounters.
Maggie stated that the tennis team for Guam will be their toughest opponent in the games, because as she pointed out, are better trained.
However, Amanda on the other hand said with assurance, "I have no worries, I'll just do my best."
Overall, the ladies are excited to go up against the other teams, and have a lot of faith in their skills to overcome anyone, and are not afraid to admit it.
Just as Maggie said, "Champions are winners, because they're not afraid to lose."
