Giants sign All-Star guard as second import

In what is a major coup, the Silver Lake Resources Goldfields Giants have signed former Cockburn Cougars All-star guard/forward Ty Harrelson as the club’s second import for the 2012 State Basketball League season.

Ty was a major reason for Cockburn's top-4 finish this season, culminating in him being named to the League's Allstar-5. With a number of clubs chasing his signature, the Giants are very pleased and fortunate that Kalgoorlie will be the next stop in his professional career.

New Head Coach Dan Fisher is ecstatic about this signing, as Ty is the type of player that any coach would love to have. He has had significant playing experience in Europe (Italy, Finland, Hungary and Germany) before coming to Australia.

This year for Cockburn he averaged 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, highlighted by a 50-point game in the quarterfinals against the Perth Redbacks, and he has the ability to play either guard position or the small forward position.

Ty will arrive back in Australia in January and will relocate to Kalgoorlie later that month.
